Poisons can include:
- Overdose of prescription or over-the-counter medications
- Drugs and/or Alcohol
- Harmful chemicals
For the purpose of First Aid, the treatment is the same for poisonings and overdoses:
DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN DANGER
If the potential poison is environmental, do not enter the same environment.
Never enter a confined space to retrieve a victim of hazardous chemicals.
- For an unconscious/unresponsive person where the cause is unknown, deliver Naloxone (Narcan) if it's available.

then follow their directions
- Have a second person call 911
- Get as much information from the person or witnesses as possible:
- Did the person swallow anything
- Did the person inject anything
- Did the person handle any chemicals
- Is the person allergic to anything
- DO NOT induce vomiting unless you are instructed to do so by:
- National Poison Control Center
- 911 Dispatch
- Instructions from Chemical Safety Data Sheet
- Monitor breathing and care for any life threatening conditions found
