Dental Injuries

Swelling in Face or Jaw

Could be caused by a serious infection of a tooth, gums, or bone. 

Keep head elevated -  Do Not Lie Down
 

Adult Tooth Knocked out

  • DO NOT stick your fingers in another persons mouth
  • Call a dentist. if you can't get to a dentist within an hour, have the person go to the emergency room.
  •  The affected person may put the tooth back in their mouth making sure it's in the same direction as it was before it came out.

Bleeding from the Mouth

  • If the blood is from brushing or flossing teeth, have the person make a dental appointment
  • If the bleeding occurs following a dental procedure, keep the head elevated and see the dentist right away
  • If bleeding in the mouth comes from trauma, such as a car accident, keep the head elevated and bent forward to prevent aspirating the blood. Seek medical attention right away. Monitor the airway. 

Abscess or signs of Infection

  • See a dentist right away. Delaying professional treatment can lead to serious medical conditions or death.
  • Keep the head elevated. DO NOT lie down
