USING A FIRE EXTINGUISHER

Prior to using a fire extinguisher, make sure:

  1. The fire is small enough to put out with an extinguisher,
  2. Help is already on the way,
  3. You have a clear path to an emergency exit,
  4. You are upwind of the fire (wind is at your back blowing flames and smoke away from you),
  5. The fire extinguisher is fully charged, and
  6. It is the correct type of fire extinguisher for the type of fire.
