Finding:
Crane inspectors are not using the checklist when completing the crane inspection. They are relying on their memory then going to a computer to enter the results. In both observations (1 in Flr mnt and 1 in MV) the inspector missed at least one step. The crane operator at the FM crane had not looked to see that the crane had been inspected prior to using it. The manual inspection slide had not been updated to show the crane had been inspected that day. The crane inspection app did show the inspection was completed. The supervisor said the operators can use either method. The entire crane inspection process needs to be reviewed. Checklists must be used during the inspection and supervisors must ensure the process is being trained and followed.
